Spring arrives in SPECTACULAR fashion in the Smoky Mountains! April is packed with unforgettable events in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge that you don’t want to miss. From inspirational Easter sunrise services high above the mountains to colorful festivals, car shows, and outdoor adventures, the Great Smoky Mountains offers something for every traveler and every age!

Whether you’re visiting for a peaceful mountain getaway or planning a lively weekend trip, these April events highlight the best of the season in the Smokies. April 5 | Easter Sunrise Service at Ober Mountain
Celebrate Easter morning with breathtaking views during the 28th Annual Easter Sunrise Service at Ober Mountain in Gatlinburg. This beloved mountaintop tradition takes place from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. in Parking Lot 1 and offers a meaningful worship experience surrounded by the beauty of the Smoky Mountains.

The free service features uplifting music, an inspiring Easter message, and the unforgettable sight of the sun rising over the mountain peaks. Complimentary tram rides from downtown Gatlinburg begin at 5:00 a.m., and guests may also drive up to the mountain.

After the service, visitors are invited to stay for a breakfast buffet, live music, and fun Easter egg hunts for children. With attractions open throughout the day, Ober Mountain becomes a full day of celebration for families and visitors alike. The service will also be live streamed by WATE-TV for those unable to attend in person.

April 5 | Easter Sunrise Service at Gatlinburg SkyPark
Experience Easter morning above Gatlinburg at the annual Easter Sunrise Service hosted at the Gatlinburg SkyPark. Guests can ride the SkyLift to the top of Crockett Mountain for a peaceful sunrise gathering beginning at 7:15 a.m.

SkyLift loading begins at 6:15 a.m., allowing visitors to watch the sun rise over the Smoky Mountains before enjoying a brief gospel presentation and inspiring music. Bagpiper Kelly Shipe will perform before and after the service, adding a memorable touch to the morning celebration.

Admission to the service is free, and attendees are welcome to remain in the park afterward to explore the SkyPark’s scenic views. Guests may also purchase breakfast from Smoky Mountain Smash, which will offer hot items such as croissant breakfast sandwiches, coffee, and juice.

April 11 | Mountain Man Memorial March
Honor the sacrifices of America’s heroes during the 19th Annual Mountain Man Memorial March in Gatlinburg. This powerful event brings together active-duty military members, veterans, families, and supporters to remember fallen service members and recognize the strength of Gold Star families.

Participants can take part in both march and run events as they travel through the Smoky Mountain landscape in a moving tribute to those who served. The event proudly partners with Legacies Alive, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families of fallen military service members.

Following the event, participants are invited to enjoy a complimentary hot meal provided through the partnership with Legacies Alive. The Mountain Man Memorial March continues to be one of the region’s most meaningful gatherings for the military and veteran community.

April 16–18 | Spring Rod Run in Pigeon Forge
Car enthusiasts from across the country gather in Pigeon Forge for the Spring Rod Run, a three-day showcase of classic cars, muscle machines, and custom automotive craftsmanship.

Visitors can expect an incredible display of hot rods, vintage classics, muscle cars, and custom builds, along with swap meets, show-and-shine competitions, and automotive vendors. Throughout the weekend, the Parkway comes alive with cruising cars, creating one of the most exciting and visually impressive events of the spring season.

April 18 – June 7 | Dollywood’s Flower & Food Festival
Spring bursts into full color during Dollywood’s Flower & Food Festival, one of the most beautiful seasonal celebrations in the Smoky Mountains. Held at Dollywood, the festival transforms the park with more than half a million vibrant flowers and larger-than-life mosaiculture sculptures.

Guests can stroll through stunning garden displays, enjoy festival-exclusive food creations, and experience live entertainment inspired by the spirit of the season. The whimsical Umbrella Sky installation fills the park with color overhead, creating one of the most photographed sights of spring in the Smokies.

With seasonal flavors, immersive entertainment, and amazing floral displays, the Flower & Food Festival offers a perfect way to celebrate the arrival of warmer weather in the mountains.

April 22–25 | Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage in Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Nature lovers from around the world gather each year for the Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage, a four-day celebration of the incredible biodiversity found in the Great Smoky Mountains. Now in its 76th year, the event features more than 200 professionally guided hikes, workshops, and educational programs.

Participants can explore a wide range of topics including wildflowers, birds, salamanders, fungi, geology, insects, and the cultural history of the Smokies. Outdoor hikes and motorcades take place throughout the national park, while indoor classes and seminars are hosted at locations across Gatlinburg.

With attendees traveling from dozens of states and several countries, the Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage has become one of the most respected natural history events in the region.

April 25–26 | Run Dollywood Race Weekend
Runners of all experience levels are invited to take part in the first-ever Run Dollywood Race Weekend at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge. This exciting inaugural event allows participants to run through one of the region’s most beloved theme parks while enjoying the beauty of spring in the Smokies.

The weekend includes race options for everyone, including a 5K, 10K, and half marathon. Along the course, runners will pass iconic park landmarks, themed areas, and scenic views while enjoying live music and on-course entertainment.

After crossing the finish line, participants can continue the fun by spending the day exploring Dollywood’s rides, shows, and attractions during the park’s vibrant Flower & Food Festival.
